Our Mission

To create healthy communities where individuals are empowered and equipped with the knowledge and tools to take control of their own physical health and well-being. Through our educational platforms and community engagement, together we will adopt an informed approach to health literacy.

What the Mumbo Jumbo?!

Let’s face it…. talking about healthcare can be realllly boring or scary, and often both! We talk with people every day who are unsure of how to access their healthcare and when they do get it they are not sure what to do with all the foreign mumbo jumbo! laughing

Our goal is to fix that! Whether you are here because you want to collaborate with our amazing (yup we are!) team or you are trying to navigate this crazy thing called healthcare we want you to stay awhile and poke around our site. And while you’re at it… feel free to visit us on YouTube and Instagram!

Debbie is such an asset to our collaborative! Her knowledge, expertise and commitment to providing health literacy and education to our participants have been paramount. Her work was the missing piece to the larger puzzle of providing holistic care to youth with lived experience in foster care.

Health insurance lingo can be soooo confusing, but understanding the key terms and concepts is essential for making informed decisions about your coverage. Here are some tips to help you navigate and understand how health insurance works:

Start with the Basics: Begin by learning the fundamental terms, such as premium, deductible, copay, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum. These terms are the building blocks to understanding health insurance.

Read Your Policy Documents: Carefully read through your insurance policy documents, including the Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) and the Explanation of Benefits (EOB). These documents provide essential information about what is and isn’t covered.

Can’t find the documents? You are not alone! Make sure you enroll on your health insurance website where you can not only find your super important documents but you can download your health insurance card. If your plan has an app… downloading it would be AH-MAZING!
